To become a real estate agent in Texas, you must first get your Texas real estate license. The process of getting your real estate license generally takes a few months and includes the following steps:

Enroll in an Texas real estate school

The first step to getting your Texas real estate license is to enroll in a real estate school and complete a 180-hour real estate pre-licensing course.

 Pass the course final exam

Once you have completed the 180-hour Texas real estate pre-licensing course, you must pass a course exam that will help prepare you for the state exam. The exam consists of 125 multiple choice questions for the salesperson license and 130 multiple choice questions for the broker license with a minimum passing score of 70%.

Complete the background check

You may need to submit a background check to verify your identity and right to work as a real estate agent in Texas.

Apply for your Texas real estate license

Submit your application online by filling out the relevant form with the Texas Real Estate Commission, either electronically or via mail.

 Pass the state license exam

Licensing exams in Texas are conducted by Pearson VUE Examination Services. You must make a reservation with Pearson VUE no less than 24 hours before your examination date. You will be expected to provide a non-refundable examination fee.

You need to get a score of 70% or higher to pass the state real estate license exam in Texas.

What is Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee?

If a student does not pass the Texas real estate license exam within 30 days of completing the exam prep course, we’ll reimburse the original cost of either your pre-licensing package or the exclusive exam prep you purchased.* For reimbursement, email us at [email protected] with a copy of your exam results, including the date of the exams, within 30 days of the failed exam attempt.

What if I miss a livestream class?

Can I take both online and livestream?

Complete the Texas real estate pre-license education, apply for your Texas Sales Agent license and submit fingerprints for a background check, successfully pass the Texas real estate licensing examination. Additionally, applicants must obtain sponsorship from a Texas real estate broker. After receiving the license, individuals are required to complete 98 hours of Sales Agent Apprentice Education (SAE) for their first-time renewal.
