North Dakota Salesperson Pre Requirements

If an applicant completed a commission-approved 45-hour pre-licensure course prior to January 1, 2021, this education is accepted by the Commission for two years after the date on the course certificate, and no additional pre-licensure education is required. However, those licensees who completed the 45-hour pre-licensure course must, within 1 year after initial licensure as a salesperson, complete 15 hours of post-licensure education. This post-licensure education can be any courses approved by the commission. The salesperson’s broker must furnish copies of these post-licensure certificates to the Commission.
An applicant for a salesperson’s license may take the examination prior to fulfillment of the pre-licensing education requirement however the Commission may not issue a salesperson’s license to an applicant until certification of the completion of the pre-licensing education is provided

North Dakota Salesperson Continuing Education License Requirements

Renewal Date: December 31st each year.
Continuing Education Date: November 15th each year.
All licenses expire on December 31st of each year. Proper application for renewal must be made on or before November 15th of each year to ensure a timely renewal for the upcoming license period.
There is no grace period for completing education. Those who do not have the required number of hours for an active license renewal, must renew to the inactive status until the required education has been completed.
Hours Required by North Dakota Real Estate Commission: 12 hours.
For the current continuing education cycle (November 16, 2023 through November 15, 2024), there is one mandatory course topic, and three hours on this topic must be completed. In addition to the three hours of mandatory CE course topics, nine hours of elective CE course topic(s) are required.
- 3 mandatory hours.
- 9 elective hours.
Salesperson licensed before January 1, 2024: Must complete mandatory 3 hours, plus 9 hours on elective topics for a total of 12 hours.
Salespersons first licensed in 2024 who completed the 90-hour pre-licensure course are exempt from CE requirements for their first renewal (70-02-04-15)
Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary but are generally 6 months after enrollment date. The North Dakota Real Estate Commission requires that all online courses be completed within one year of the enrollment date.
Certificate: With few exceptions, online course completion certificates are available for download at course conclusion and posted directly to your student dashboard.
