To become a real estate agent in Louisiana, you must first get your Louisiana real estate license. The process of getting your real estate license generally takes a few months and includes the following steps:

Enroll in an Louisiana real estate school

The first step to getting your Louisiana real estate license is to enroll in a real estate school and complete a 90-hour real estate pre-licensing course.

 Pass the course final exam

Once you have completed the 90-hour Louisiana real estate pre-licensing course, you must pass a course exam that will help prepare you for the state exam. The exam consists of 135 questions with a minimum passing score of 70%.

Complete the background check

You may need to submit a background check to verify your identity and right to work as a real estate agent in Louisiana.

Apply for your Louisiana real estate license

Submit your application online by filling out the relevant form with the Louisiana Real Estate Commission, either electronically or via mail.

 Pass the state license exam

Licensing exams in Louisiana are conducted by Pearson VUE Examination Services. You must make a reservation with Pearson VUE no less than 24 hours before your examination date. You will be expected to provide a non-refundable examination fee.

You need to get a score of 70% or higher to pass the state real estate license exam in Louisiana.

What is Pass or Don’t Pay Guarantee?

If a student does not pass the Louisiana real estate license exam within 30 days of completing the exam prep course, we’ll reimburse the original cost of either your pre-licensing package or the exclusive exam prep you purchased.* For reimbursement, email us at [email protected] with a copy of your exam results, including the date of the exams, within 30 days of the failed exam attempt.

What if I miss a livestream class?

Just as if you were in a classroom, attending all sessions from start to finish are crucial to earn credit. We understand some things are out of your control! Please review your welcome letter, located on your student dashboard for more attendance details.

Can I take both online and livestream?

Each class must be completed in the format it was started to receive credit.
